3DVisA promotes, enhances and extends the knowledge, understanding and opportunities enabled by digital 3D visualisation to research and pedagogy in the Arts and Humanities. The 3D Visualisation in the Arts Network was established in recognition of the specific needs of the Arts and Humanities researchers involved in 3D visualisation. An increasing number of researchers, educators and students within UK Higher and Further Education are creating and/or using 3D visualisation technologies. While such technologies are increasingly popular in some disciplines, there are also subject areas far less receptive to investigation of the academic, pedagogical and creative potential of digital visualisation. 3DVisA builds upon the experience of past and current projects, and provides a forum for discussion and exchange of knowledge through academic activities, publications and resources. 3D Visualisation in the Arts Network: - Raises awareness and understanding of digital scholarship in the Arts and Humanities; - Encourages and facilitates exchange of skills and knowledge of spatial visualisation; - Stimulates and coordinates international, community-wide debate on key topical and current issues; - Actively collaborates with the UK Visualisation Support Network (VizNet) which specialises in scientific visualisation; - Forms strategic connections between domains through a range of related, external bodies; - Builds a sustainable academic community of the creators and users of 3D visualisation in the Arts and Humanities.
